Zeus

Ringing sound crows bright,
Blinding crackle of heaven’s wrath rung loud-
Laughter of heat and sky
Tangled in chaos.
Shrieks from clouds on high,
Banshees scream.
Birches gleam in strobes: too-bright.
Ever from Zeus’ fist fly rods of heat and light
To strike at hearts and heads
In summer’s final heat.
And here below we sit and stare
At white-strikes and streams of light:
Lightning crackling-bright.
